AI Singapore (AISG) has selected Dell Technologies to deliver High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure that is optimised for artificial intelligence workloads.

To assist researchers in their work, AISG will leverage Dell EMC PowerEdge servers, powered by 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors that will provide the greatest performance and flexibility required for AI research, as well as Dell EMC open networking platforms to run these data-intensive workloads.

With these solutions, organisational networks can be tailored to meet their unique requirements and IT challenges can be minimised to achieve business success.

“The close collaboration between AISG’s and Dell Technologies’ engineers has allowed us to co-design and customise a unique infrastructure to meet our AI research, development and AI model deployment needs that are aimed at showcasing the real-world benefits of AI and broadening its adoption in Singapore,” said Laurence Liew, director of AI Industry Innovation at AISG.

Romain Bottier, HPC & AI senior solution architect in South Asia at Dell Technologies, said the best practices and emerging techniques for machine learning and deep learning that AI Singapore is developing can be leveraged by governments, industry and academia to drive human progress.

According to the Dell Technologies Digital Transformation Index, 50% of organisations in Singapore are looking to invest in AI between now and 2021 to enable digital business. However, 36% of companies are still experiencing transformation roadblocks, one of which is the lack of in-house skill sets and expertise.

Beyond powering AI Singapore’s research efforts, Dell Technologies will also support organisations under AISG’s 100 Experiments (100E) programme that are looking for infrastructure solutions to deploy AI projects.
