XL Axiata and Google Cloud have partnered to further the former’s digital transformation journey as well as serve the evolving needs of millions of companies across Indonesia’s rapidly digitising economy.
With a target to move 70% of workloads to the cloud within the next three years, XL Axiata has adopted Anthos‒Google Cloud’s modern application management platform, to automate, manage and scale workloads across its hybrid- and multi-cloud environments in a secure, consistent manner.
Google Cloud Anthos enables enterprises to build and manage Kubernetes-based applications, without modification, whether they are on existing on-premises data centers, Google Cloud or other clouds.
By migrating its microservices platform to Google Cloud and bringing Anthos Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) to its on-premises data centres, XL Axiata can extend its cloud capabilities across its on-premises and cloud-based resources in a cost effective manner.
XL Axiata also has plans to implement Google Cloud’s scalable data analytics platform to enhance customer experiences through data- and AI-driven technologies.
The launch of Google Cloud’s GCP region in Jakarta will enable XL Axiata to store, process and analyse data in real time locally to better serve its new and existing customers in Indonesia.
“XL Axiata is committed to the modernisation of our infrastructure to get more business agility and increase application deployment velocity. Anthos was a natural fit as it lets us adopt containers while letting Google, a leader in Kubernetes, manage our container infrastructure for us,” said Yessie D Yosetya, dhief information and digital officer of XL Axiata.
Also, XL Axiata has become a Google Cloud Interconnect Partner. This sees both firms bringing high-speed connectivity, cloud services and digital growth opportunities to customers in Indonesia who can reliably transfer data between XL Axiata’s five data centres and Google’s global network.
“With Anthos, we’re providing a consistent platform for XL Axiata to deploy workloads both on-premises and in the cloud so they can accelerate their own digital transformation,” said Megawaty Khie, country director of Google Cloud in Indonesia.
