ThoughtWorks has launched the ThoughtWorks Data Guild, which is supported under the TeSA Company-Led Training (CLT) program and aimed at boosting the local tech talent pool, offering on-the-job training for software developers to work on real-world projects.
The program is open to Singaporeans interested in building specialised careers in data engineering, ML and AI. Candidates that are selected will be offered a 12-month paid contract and be mentored by ThoughtWorks’ experienced industry practitioners and senior data consultants.
Candidates can look forward to learn from these seasoned mentors, gain practical project experience and solve complex data challenges. By the end of the program, the developers will be equipped to drive big data projects involving complex datasets, and to build digital platforms that leverage on ML and AI.
“ThoughtWorks recognises that deeper collaboration between industry and government is critical for growing the talent pool and tech industry expertise in Singapore,” said Jessie Xia, managing director of ThoughtWorks for Southeast Asia. “Building on our existing public-private talent programs, the ThoughtWorks Data Guild will cultivate talent to further grow the data, ML and AI ecosystem here.”
Howie Lau, chief industry development officer at Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority, said IMDA supports the launch of the ThoughtWorks Data Guild through the TeSA CLT, to develop and nurture more experts in data analytics, machine learning and AI.
ThoughtWorks has collaborated and invested in deepening Singapore’s tech talent capabilities through public-private partnerships, including the Tech Immersion Programme — which provides fresh graduates with immersive opportunities to build a successful technology career ― as well as the Jumpstart! Programme ― that helps those from non-IT backgrounds transit into software focused tech job roles.
