Sinar Mas in Indonesia moves businesses to cloud with SAP

Indonesian conglomerate Sinar Mas selected RISE with SAP to drive operational efficiencies across its organisation and to better leverage SAP’s latest innovations including Business AI.

The company has businesses in pulp and paper; agri-business and food; financial services; developer and real estate; communications and technology; energy and infrastructure, and healthcare.

Sinar Mas, one of SAP’s first customers in Indonesia, will initially move five of its businesses to the cloud with RISE with SAP, a complete business transformation offering of cloud solutions, infrastructure, and services.

Previously reliant on an on-premise system, Sinar Mas’s decision to migrate to SAP S/4 HANA Cloud is driven by a desire to streamline its operations, boost agility, innovate faster and drive scalability, all enabled by a clean digital core.

The move will also help Sinar Mas future-proof its organisation to better serve its customers, as artificial intelligence continues to transform Indonesia’s business landscape.

SAP Business AI is built into the SAP applications that power critical business processes. It comprises a range of AI innovations that have been developed using extensive industry-specific data and deep process knowledge, all created using responsible AI practices.

Franky Widjaja, Chairman and CEO of Sinar Mas Agribusiness & Food and of Golden Agri-Resources said organisations today need to ensure they can adapt quickly to new innovations, if they are to continue to grow and achieve their ambitions.

“Our move to the cloud, with the help of our long-term partner SAP, will ensure that we’re not only able to better navigate future challenges but also leverage future benefits, such as AI, while contributing to Indonesia’s economic growth,” said Widjaja.
