Siemens unit, Hanyang uni tie up for smart manufacturing in Korea

Siemens Digital Industries Software signed a memorandum of understanding with Hanyang University’s LINC+ Business Foundation to foster smart manufacturing talent in Korea via collaboration on software courses.

The purpose of this partnership is to nurture smart manufacturing experts in line with the structural transformation of industries, and to lay the groundwork for digital manufacturing technology and education necessary to innovate domestic manufacturing industries.

Under the MOU, Siemens Digital Industries Software and Hanyang University will jointly open software curriculum, including engineering and simulation, and develop teaching materials for the courses. Hanyang University’s LINC+ Business Foundation aims to provide smart manufacturing courses based on Siemens Digital Industries Software solutions starting in 2022 to foster smart manufacturing engineers.

In 2020, the university will open digital manufacturing, digital twin, and simulation courses that involve CAD, CAE, optimum design, and 3D printing. The school will take full advantage of various solutions from Siemens’ Xcelerator, an integrated portfolio of software, services and application development platform.

Siemens Digital Industries Software will provide Siemens’ comprehensive service portfolios for the university’s new training courses and offer Academic Membership to students who are interested in accessing online training content to better understand Siemens solutions. If necessary, Siemens will also offer offline training programs.

“It is important that we foster smart manufacturing talents with integrated knowledge and problem-solving capabilities to enhance Korea’s manufacturing competitiveness in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” said Byung Joon Oh, country manager of Siemens Digital Industries Software Korea. “Through the high-quality smart manufacturing education curriculum, we hope to enhance competitiveness of Hanyang University.”
