Salesforce has forged a strategic partnership with Alibaba, which helps its customers transform the way they market, sell, and operate through businesses like Alibaba Cloud and Tmall.

Through the partnership, Alibaba will become the exclusive provider of Salesforce to customers in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. At the same time, Salesforce will become the exclusive enterprise CRM (customer relationship management) product suite sold by Alibaba.

In tandem, Salesforce and Alibaba are expected to bring Salesforce’s CRM platform — including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Commerce Cloud, and Salesforce Platform — to customers across Greater China.

“Alibaba’s advanced, secure infrastructure and knowledge of these markets will empower our global customers with a solution that meets local business needs,” said Ryan Aytay, Salesforce EVP of strategic partnerships and co-CEO of enterprise-collaboration platform Quip.

“With Alibaba’s strong, advanced and secure cloud infrastructure network and insight into the Chinese market, both parties will provide the best localised solutions for our global customers,” Aytay said.

Alibaba Cloud’s technology and public cloud platform underpin the entire Alibaba economy from e-commerce and payments to logistics and supply-chain management, the company has said.

“Our cloud infrastructure and data intelligence platform combined with Salesforce’s market leading solutions for Sales, Service, Commerce and more will provide global customers with incredible customer experiences at every touchpoint,” said Ken Shen Tao, VP of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.
