Solace PubSub+ Platform has been selected as an infrastructure component of PSA Singapore’s upcoming smart port in Tuas, according to the company’s press release.

The new Tuas Port will leverage automation technologies and feature a command centre that orchestrates the port’s automated operations and maintenance activities, including the remote control and diagnostics of equipment.

Solace PubSub+ will serve as the backbone for event-driven distribution of information. By establishing connections with the Smart Port’s sensor networks and industrial control systems, it will intelligently filter and route information to where it is needed.

When fully completed, Tuas Port will be the world’s largest fully automated container terminal, capable of handling 65 million Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units per year. PubSub+ aims to support the massive throughput through the “efficient use of network resources”, according to the press release. It also buffers information flow to act as a “shock absorber that guarantees the in-order delivery of all data”, even if recipients are temporarily disconnected or cannot keep up with the flow of message.

“We are excited to work with PSA Singapore to drive efficiency and resilience for the upcoming Tuas mega port. Singapore’s openness to digitalisation initiatives has been a key driver for its success as a global maritime hub, and we are delighted to be able to play a pivotal role in bringing its Smart Port vision to life,” said Les Rechan, President and CEO, Solace.

Tuas Port will commence its first phase of operations in 2021 and is expected to become fully operational in 2040.
