Philippine telco PLDT Group, the Philippines’ largest fully integrated telco company, has deployed an agentic AI capability built on the UiPath Platform.
ERICA, or the Enterprise Risk Intelligence Companion Agent, is designed to strengthen enterprise risk management across the organization by enhancing how risks are identified, assessed, and managed with greater speed and consistency using agentic AI. This milestone marks the first telecommunications application of agentic AI by UiPath in Southeast Asia.
The agent was developed by the PLDT Group’s enterprise risk management (ERM) and IT teams, in collaboration with UiPath. It reduces the administrative effort required at each stage of the risk lifecycle by automating the identification and assessment of risks.
This allows risk professionals to pivot away from manual data entry and focus on higher-value insights and strategic decision-making. The agent also translates complex operational information into clear, actionable insights that can be reviewed and acted upon more efficiently.
Human oversight remains central to ERICA’s design. All outputs are reviewed and validated by risk professionals from the PLDT Group, with full traceability maintained through existing governance systems to ensure transparency and accountability.
“Our collaboration with the PLDT Group represents UiPath’s first telco application of agentic AI in Southeast Asia,” said Amit Khandelwal, regional VP and managing director in Southeast Asia at UiPath.
“It demonstrates how AI agents orchestrated within critical business processes can enhance operational excellence and resilience. We are looking forward to expanding the use of agentic AI across the PLDT Group, with the appropriate guardrails and governance, to create value for employees and customers,” he said.
Gilbert Gaw, FVP at PLDT, said the real value of ERICA goes beyond the technology itself.
“It reflects how we are embedding innovation into core enterprise functions in a way that is deliberate, disciplined, and aligned with how the business actually works,” said Gaw.
Leah Jimenez, chief data privacy officer at PLDT, said the agent brings greater clarity and consistency to how they manage risk across the group.
“It strengthens the foundation of our risk practice and allows our teams to focus on insight, helping the business move forward with greater confidence,” said Jimenez.
Following the successful initial deployment, the PLDT Group plans to extend ERICA’s use across more business units, strengthening enterprise-wide resilience and supporting better decision-making.
