Princeton Digital Group (PDG) has acquired Yahoo’s Singapore data centre, SG3.

Yahoo will continue to host its infrastructure at SG3, with PDG investing further to run the data center with industry-leading efficiency as a third-party operator.

The site expands PDG’s footprint in Singapore, adding to the hyperscale data centre the company already owns and operates in the country.

In addition, this acquisition also enhances PDG’s SG+  strategy which entails PDG’s portfolio of data centre campuses in Singapore, Batam and Johor.

Through this acquisition, PDG adds to its portfolio of more than 20 data centres and 1 Gigawatt (GW) capacity, and further reaffirms the company’s commitment to Singapore, where it recently inaugurated its new global headquarters.

Rangu Salgame, chairman, CEO and co-founder of PDG, said the acquisition of SG3 shows PDG’s three-pronged investment strategy of greenfield development, carve-outs and acquisition.

“Along with a strategic asset, we gain an important customer in Yahoo and additional capacity to serve PDG’s customers,” he said. “Through this acquisition, we continue to be in alignment with Singapore’s strategy of unlocking additional data center capacity by driving greater energy efficiency at existing data centres.”

Aaron Lake, CIO and SVP of platforms engineering at Yahoo, said the partnership with PDG in Singapore will continue to support Yahoo’s global strategy.
