MyRepublic Digital bets on low-code iPaaS for scale, agility

With the wave of digital transformation sweeping industries left and right, MyRepublic Digital, an offshoot of broadband operator MyRepublic, is eyeing to expand its reach to more markets.

Equipped with its cloud-native platform Encore for digital business processes, the Singapore-based solutions provider has been searching for tech partners to further enhance its services, such as enabling automation and streamlined workflows.

This was when MyRepublic Digital decided to collaborate with integration platform-as-a-service (iPaaS) provider Boomi to enable more functionalities on the Encore platform.

Frontier Enterprise spoke with Gary Liew, Managing Director, Platform, MyRepublic Digital, and Hon Chew Seetoh, Director of Asia, Boomi, to drill down on the details of their companies’ partnership.

According to Liew, an upgrade of the Encore platform has been in the works for quite some time.

“One of the key considerations for our decision to work with Boomi was the need for scalable, consistent, and easily reusable libraries, including those we could create ourselves. This ensures that all the existing microservices and functions across our entire platform and their methods are unified, and their behaviours are contained in one solution, providing not just consistent behaviour, but also resilience,” he said.

Innovation partner

Elaborating further on their partnership with Boomi, Liew observed that there was little friction when they began using Boomi’s cloud integration platform.

Liew shared that the challenge with adopting the Boomi Platform was not so much understanding the purpose of the layers of architecture and their associated tools and libraries, but rather the time required for practitioners to gain the necessary skills and experience to deploy functional modules for their business needs. “As with any new technology,” he said, “there is a learning curve that must be overcome.”

He further explained that having access to various knowledge sources and leveraging existing e-cases through the Boomi Platform’s usage helped accelerate development and deployment at MyRepublic Digital. This enabled the company to quickly refactor, meet tight timelines, and deliver value for their business.

Boomi’s Hon Chew Seetoh claims that their platform enables organisations to transform their digital landscape by providing speed, scalability, and reliability. The platform is said to help enable greater efficiency and automation across all systems, both within the business and with trading partners.

According to Seetoh, agility and speed are crucial to succeed in the highly competitive telecommunications market. MyRepublic aimed to enhance its Encore platform by improving its real-time decision-making capabilities, scaling securely, and providing a customer-centric experience.

“Through Boomi’s low-code iPaaS, MyRepublic automated workflows and enabled reusable configuration for integration with third-party vendors and partner payment gateways. Utilising Boomi’s selection of connectors, MyRepublic was able to simplify its digital ecosystem and maintain business agility,” the Boomi executive added.

Furthermore, Boomi helped expand the scope of MyRepublic’s automation, thereby increasing the end-to-end order processing efficiency of the latter’s Encore platform.

“This helped deliver the fast responses and improved experiences customers expect from digital brands. For instance, customer wait times for MyRepublic modems now take between one and two business days — a significant reduction from before,” Seetoh noted.

Seamless experience

Having multiple systems and solutions can often blindside enterprises and create unnecessary bottlenecks that will have serious consequences in the long run.

For MyRepublic Digital, this was an obstacle that they managed to overcome after partnering with Boomi.

“We see the Boomi Platform as the glue allowing for all of our platform’s distributed functions to be aligned and ensuring their behaviours and expected output are consistent. This results in minimal system downtime,” MyRepublic Digital’s Gary Liew said.

The Boomi Platform provides a unified solution that helps MyRepublic Digital’s microservices and functions to operate and behave consistently, added Liew. Furthermore, it is said to be capable of “easily” replicating deployments, as well as horizontal and vertical scaling to support business expansion. These features are vital for enabling their DevOps team to iteratively enhance the Encore platform in a consistent manner.

Onward with digital transformation

At present, MyRepublic Digital’s Encore platform has functionalities such as automated ordering and fulfilment, enabled through a “zero-touch” process that minimises the need for human intervention; multi-channel digital customer experience; open-standard APIs; centralised customer management; converged product catalogue management, rating, and invoicing; enterprise applications and integrations; and scalable, independently deployable microservices.

MyRepublic Digital’s Gary Liew expressed confidence in Boomi’s platform, citing its widespread use and established track record. Liew lauded the platform’s technical features and support services, describing it as an “excellent” and “useful” tool.

For Boomi, continuous improvement of CX is an important priority, and as a result, the company regularly introduces features to its platform.

“Low code is synonymous with simplicity and productivity. The new page builder in the Boomi Platform is more intuitive for citizen developers. Rather than writing and fixing lines of code, more people can now customise user interface components across their applications, using drag-and-drop techniques,” Boomi’s Hon Chew Seetoh said.

Additionally, Boomi’s Data Catalog and Preparation (DCP) can help accelerate the manual design process for the Master Data Hub (MDH) model. This is achieved by leveraging the auto-discovery and AI capabilities of DCP to create and publish master data models and associated data rules established in DCP directly into MDH, the executive concluded.
