Krungsri renews teamup with Kyndryl to push core banking transformation

Krungsri (Bank of Ayudhya) has entered into a fresh, five-year partnership with Kyndryl, which will support the bank’s efforts to strengthen the efficiency and resiliency of its IT operations while accelerating its core banking transformation.

This will be done through Kyndryl Bridge, automation, AI-powered operations, Mainframe-as-a-Service capabilities and application modernization services.

Krungsri aims to create intelligent, seamless financial experiences integrated into customers’ daily lives. Thus, the bank is investing in technology and digital capabilities to enhance customer experiences, strengthen trust and drive innovation across its operations in a digital-first world.

Kyndryl’s role is to help modernize and transform the technology foundation underpinning Krungsri’s core banking environment, combining managed services, modernization expertise and AI-enabled operations.

Through Kyndryl Bridge, the company’s AI-powered open integration platform, the engagement will use automation and AI to reduce manual IT activities, strengthen infrastructure monitoring and optimize batch processing, enabling Krungsri’s broader modernization initiatives.

“The banking industry is being reshaped by a mix of technological progress, changing customer expectations, regulatory shifts, and new financial models,” said Kenichi Yamato, president and CEO of Krungsri.

“To keep pace, we need IT infrastructure that is resilient, flexible, and scalable. That is where our partnership with Kyndryl comes in,” said Yamato. “Their deep domain expertise will help us further modernize our IT infrastructure, enabling us to advance our vision while keeping customer-centricity and personalized solutions at the heart of everything we do.”

Kittipong Asawapichayon, managing director of Kyndryl Thailand, said that by combining their understanding of Krungsri’s environment with Kyndryl Consult, Kyndryl Bridge, automation, and AI expertise, the company can support the data center infrastructure behind the bank’s core operations, including its nationwide operation network.

Under the renewed partnership, Krungsri will leverage Kyndryl’s managed services capabilities, consulting expertise, and AI-driven operational capabilities across its data center IT environment, including infrastructure supporting more than 4,800 ATMs.

Kyndryl will also use agentic AI capabilities to support modernization, operational transformation, and intelligent automation across Krungsri’s technology environment.

Kyndryl will provide a flexible Mainframe-as-a-Service model to supply capacity and operational support for Krungsri’s banking technology transformation.

The engagement will use the Kyndryl Agentic AI Framework to help accelerate modernization by orchestrating AI-enabled workflows across Krungsri’s technology environment, supporting activities such as application and infrastructure analysis, operational automation and targeted modernization initiatives.

This approach will help reduce manual effort, improve operational efficiency and enable Krungsri to advance its transformation priorities while maintaining human oversight.

Building on a longstanding relationship, Kyndryl has supported Krungsri’s technology transformation through initiatives including network modernization, cloud adoption, workplace transformation and IT service improvements.

The renewed agreement expands that work with infrastructure and mainframe services, as well as AI-enabled capabilities, to help modernize Krungsri’s core banking environment and support its long-term transformation objectives.
