Japfa goes live on Workday in Indonesia ahead of Asia-wide rollout

Japfa, a pan-Asian industrial agri-food company based in Singapore, is working with Workday to bolster its HR service model.

By deploying Workday, Japfa has achieved a more intuitive, user-friendly employee experience, enabling more efficient workforce planning and greater visibility across the business.

This will involve the centralisation of HR administrative processes across Japfa’s Indonesian business units into a shared-services model, reducing manual effort and creating more consistent HR operating processes as the organisation expands and evolves.

Founded in Indonesia and headquartered in Singapore, Japfa employs over 50,000 staff across Asia.

Over the years, Japfa has significantly expanded its footprint and diversified its product range, evolving from an animal-feed producer into a fully integrated agrifood enterprise spanning animal feed production, livestock breeding, commercial farming, and consumer food.

Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) was successfully deployed in Indonesia in just eight months, strengthening visibility, agility, and consistency across Japfa’s HR operations in the market.

The roll out will extend to five additional Asian markets, including Singapore, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Myanmar and India, supporting greater consistency across the Group’s operations in Asia.

With a range of Workday solutions, Japfa’s HR teams and managers can access greater visibility into workforce data, including headcount, costs  and team structures. This enables the business to better develop and deploy talent, allocate resources effectively, and make more informed workforce decisions.

Jasper Tan, head of HR at Japfa, said collaboration with Workday supports Japfa to be able to increase talent development, optimise budgeting and cost allocation, and expand efficiently as the business grows on an international scale.

“This platform also standardizes various processes to increase productivity, strengthen compliance with regulations and laws, and maintain better operational consistency throughout the organisation,” said Tan.

This provides a single view of workforce data, strengthens workforce planning, and supports a more consistent employee experience. In a complex and fast-moving environment, having greater visibility into workforce data and the ability to plan effectively are increasingly important.

By bringing HR management and workforce planning together on an integrated platform, Japfa can make more informed decisions about talent, plan workforce needs, and support employee development as the organisation grows.

“For organisations like Japfa, Workday helps simplify and streamline HR processes, strengthening workforce planning and giving HR teams and managers greater visibility to support more effective talent management. This enables Japfa to better align its workforce with its evolving business needs and support its growth ambitions,” said Jess O’Reilly, Workday general manager in ASEAN.
