Gojek boosts mapping experience with Google Maps

Gojek, the on-demand services unit of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia, has teamed up with Google Maps to enhance the mapping experience for its consumers, driver-partners, and merchants.

The collaboration combines Gojek’s real-time on-the-ground data and Google Maps’ advanced geo-technology.

Building on a longstanding collaboration with Google Maps Platform, this advancement is expected to enable GoTo to optimise navigation, reduce delivery times, and strengthen discoverability for micro, small, and medium enterprises merchants on the Gojek app.

“By combining Gojek’s real-time on-the-ground data with Google Maps’ cutting-edge geo-technology, we will deliver a superior mapping experience that enhances efficiency and accessibility for millions of users across Indonesia,” said Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo, president of on-demand services (Gojek) at GoTo Group.

Yael Maguire, Google VP and GM of Google Maps Platform, said their partnership with GoTo will help ensure that millions of people in Indonesia have access to fresh and factual information about the world in Google Maps and in GoTo’s on-demand services.

As Gojek serves millions of consumers every day, the company generates critical real-time data points that provide deep insights into mobility patterns and road conditions.

By leveraging this data, Gojek continuously refines its navigation systems to create a more seamless and efficient experience for driver-partners and consumers alike.

By integrating this with Google Maps’ advanced geo-technology, including real-time traffic analysis, the collaboration will enable smarter route optimisation, reducing delivery times and improving efficiency.

Additionally, both companies will work together to enhance destination selection, searchability, and pickup/drop-off experiences, ensuring a smoother, more intuitive journey for users and driver-partners.

As part of its efforts to enhance the discoverability of MSME merchants through Google Maps and Google Business profiles, Google will collaborate with GoFood to educate and onboard merchants onto Google Business Profiles.

This will ensure more accurate address listings and greater visibility for merchants, strengthening the digital footprint of Indonesia’s small businesses.

By making it easier for consumers to find and order from them, this initiative reinforces GoTo’s ongoing support for MSMEs.
