ePLDT Inc. has partnered with Schneider Electric to holistically transform its VITRO Pasig data centre in the Philippines and equip it with the latest available technologies.

VITRO Data Centre offers colocation and connectivity services that assure customers of data security and protection, data accessibility, and disaster resiliency throughout its network.

The 20-year-old facility serves as a fortress for many local enterprises in events of natural and man-made disruptions.

The three-year transformation project will optimise VITRO Pasig’s support infrastructure facility in order to generate more power capacity — which will enable the facility to accommodate and host more application requirements of its customers.

This will also elevate the data centre’s operational and technological capabilities towards world-class service excellence.

“The strategic transformation initiative will not only improve VITRO Pasig’s physical infrastructure but more importantly innovate our data center operations management,” said Dave Simon, CTO and head of cloud and data centre business operations at ePLDT.

“Beyond just a facility revamp, the project will optimise our current manpower to help us deliver even better and higher quality of data centre solutions and services,” Simon said.

VITRO Pasig’s technical design will also be revamped to make it at par with ePLDT’s Tier-3 data centre sites in Makati City and Clark, Pampanga, and turn it into an efficient, environmentally sustainable, and digital-enabled data centre.

From having only one data centre in 2000, ePLDT now holds a network of 10 interconnected data centres with a combined capacity of over 9,000 racks and more than 85 megawatts of power.

“We are further enhancing the capabilities of our world-class VITRO Data Center network primarily to cater to the growing needs and IT requirements of our valued customers,” said Nerissa Ramos, ePLDT’s SVP and COO.
