Emtek Group, Google Cloud advance content production with generative AI

PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi (Emtek Group) is expanding its collaboration with Google Cloud to redefine how premium original content for every screen is brought to life in Southeast Asia.

The collaboration advances Emtek’s “Studio of the Future” vision, equipping professional creatives with generative AI-based production technology to remove manual toil and refocus their time and energy on the art of storytelling.

Central to this work is VidioGen, a studio production AI platform custom-built by Vidio’s technology team using Google Cloud solutions.

Emtek already has been applying Google Cloud AI to drive revenue growth and audience engagement—from patented solutions that optimize TV ad yield, to semantic search for precise content discovery.

To stay ahead of the rising demand for high-quality, audience-resonant content, Emtek is going beyond VidioGen’s proof-of-concept to scale its use throughout the group’s broader media and entertainment portfolio.

“The foundation of the creative industry will always be its people—writers, directors, actors, and the many other professionals who bring stories to life. Technology has proven to be a powerful enabler, helping our teams enhance their work, produce more efficiently, and ultimately deliver higher-quality storytelling,” said Sutanto Hartono, managing director of Emtek Group.

“We believe the future of content will be anchored on collaboration between creators and AI, unlocking new possibilities, with New Keluarga Somat as an early example. With Google Cloud, we will continue scaling VidioGen and our ‘Studio of the Future’ initiatives while keeping human artistry and cultural authenticity at the heart of Indonesian storytelling,” he said.

The expanded collaboration builds on the success of Keluarga Somat (The Somat Family). This series, which originally premiered on Indosiar in 2013, was revitalized for today’s audiences across Mentari TV and Vidio. It follows a family from Central Java navigating life after moving to a metropolis, reflecting the tension between rapid urbanization and the enduring spirit of gotong royong (mutual collaboration).

VidioGen’s generative media capabilities were used to enhance Keluarga Somat’s production quality while preserving its original storyline and human-led creative vision.

By using VidioGen to streamline asset generation and shot-composition for New Keluarga Somat, Mentari TV maintained high-fidelity animation standards while reducing re-development time and costs by 30%. This made its inaugural season a breakout hit.

Following its premiere on February 18, 2026, New Keluarga Somat aired daily on Mentari TV. The revitalized series emerged as the number one local animated program during Ramadan 2026, having delivered 74% and 90% audience share growth during free-to-air prime-time and Sahur TV slots, respectively, compared to the same period last year.

Indosiar, Vidio, and Mentari TV are all part of Emtek.

VidioGen provides showrunners and production specialists with a suite of assistive AI tools. This toolset served as the catalyst for reducing New Keluarga Somat’s development time and costs, enabling teams to rapidly iterate on artistic concepts and adapt stories for diverse audiences.

Its capabilities include outpainting (artists and cinematographers can extend frames beyond original boundaries to evolve close-ups into panoramic shots) and inpainting (visual effects teams can make instant, intricate edits to textures, props, and lighting within existing frames, minimizing the need for costly redrawing or reshoots).

To avoid “visual drift”—the gradual loss of consistency in look and feel across multiple scenes—Emtek is capitalizing on Google AI models’ industry-leading long-context windows. By grounding VidioGen outputs in pre-established production bibles, Emtek maintains aesthetic continuity, keeping AI-augmented frames faithful to the human-scripted narrative and human-defined art style.

Emtek is looking to add Gemini-powered transcription, subtitling, and dubbing capabilities to VidioGen, enabling its linguists to preserve the heart of a story while accelerating content distribution. The Gemini 3.1 model’s native multimodality and contextual intelligence will help these linguists ensure local humor, slang, and emotional depth remain intact for viewers across Indonesia and international markets.
